Nadirah X – INK – New WME promo and review
Nadirah X isn’t the latest horse in Weapons of Mass Entertainment’s stable but she’s riding with the wild wind of change. Well chosen collaborations with Jimmy Cliff and Annie Lennox in the past and her contribution to the soundtrack of one of the “Tomb Raider” movies are defining for the way which is leading directly to the essence of her debut EP “INK”:
The six songs are a fusion of hip-hop, reggae, jazz and pop not losing any of their effect in the long term, because this is not about the bling and the hip. The sounds and music on “INK” are balanced between minimal and handmade, electronic and warm, contemporary and pleasantly unstagy.
The soft flow of her mesmerizing vocals from cantering to dashing in dialogue with the sometimes poetic, sometimes sweet but always straight to the point lyrics, commited to a truth that is eye-opening and mind-clearing, are drawing one into the songs and carrying one away with them, not seldom until they reach your heart.
“INK” gives you a first fevered glow from the fires Nadirah X sparks with her live performances and with no doubt also with the eagerly awaited debut album.
There are many who are hot or cool, sexy or talented, but an artist you can truly believe in is rare – Nadirah X is one of them.
