The Secret Of Drowning: Carina Round working on an unreleased song by Dave Stewart and Brian Eno
Alternative blues rock singer Carina Round (who released her second album with help from Dave Stewart in 2004 and toured with Annie Lennox in 2007) is working on an extraordinary, so far unreleased song called “The Secret Of Drowning” at the moment which was originally written by Dave Stewart and Brian Eno. Here’s what she said in her latest blog entry:
“Dave Stewart had given me a beautiful piece of music YEARS ago that he had made with Brian Eno just using a Casio keyboard … I had worked on it but it seems at the time what i did with it didn’t resonate with me until I came across it on a hard drive recently.
I worked on it some more last night in my hotel room in Denver and it started to come to life more for me.It’s not a standard structure song at all. It’s so hypnotic and magical and just keeps layering and building. Hopefully it can make the next record… Anyway, here is a snippet of the lyric… I think it’s about that very second when you decide to give yourself fully to what you know you need to do and just dive in to the future even though the fear may be paralyzing you .
Its been said that when one is drowning, after the panic has subsided one experiences a feeling of absolute pure euphoria at the point of no return…
i know the secret of drowning
is to stay calm and not panic
i know the secret of losing
is to let go
before you get lost
i know the freedom of falling
without the parachute of ‘if’
i know to suck the air in
and dive off the edge of the cliff”
